Job Title:          Application Support Analyst

Contract:          Permanent

Application Support team members work side by side with the firm’s trading, operational, development and business teams; they’re responsible for Rothesay’s core daily technology processes as well as ensuring that all key custom business applications run smoothly. They implement and undertake monitoring of the firm’s technology stack and infrastructure and are also involved in developing and deploying fixes/enhancements to applications and reports. In addition to the above, a Senior Application Support Analysts will mentor and train junior members, lead projects and assist in the strategic development of the team as well as ensuring that Prod Support is engaged with the critical teams across the firm.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line support to the trading, operations and pricing teams, escalating issues where necessary to appropriate teams
  • Support the company’s extensive batch job processes to ensure smooth running of the key business functions throughout the day
  • Work directly with a number of business functions including traders, actuaries, developers, quants and technology infrastructure
  • Perform incident management, problem resolution and root cause analysis owning the most complex incidents from when they are reported to resolution. Ensuring that post mortem documents are produced where necessary.
  • Look for opportunities to build tools and implement enhancements that help to improve system functionality and prevent repeated issues
  • Oversee the transition of new applications into application support ensuring complete user documentation, support tools and support guides are in place
  • Take the lead on engaging with business teams becoming an expert in the firm’s technology stack

 

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years production/application support experience within a financial services company
  • Strong investigative skills, partnered with deep technical skills (debugging/stack trace reading)
  • Client service orientation, including a helpful and collaborative approach to support
  • Understanding of deployment and maintenance of cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
  • Knowledge of version control such as Git or CVS
  • Demonstrable experience partnering and collaborating with traders and quantitative analysts
  • Strong experience with Python or another programming language
  • SQL skills
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and business domains
  • Knowledge of fixed income and fixed income derivatives

 

Required qualifications for this role (if any)

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar.
