We're simplifying the conversion of homes to green energy by building a platform for installing smart meters, solar panels, heat pumps, EV chargers, and more.
Data Scientist - Kraken Field Platform
About the Opportunity
As the first Data Scientist in Kraken Field, you'll play a crucial role in solving complex problems to enable the development of innovative products to improve the efficiency of the Installation of Low Carbon Tech. Working closely with the Head of Engineering, you'll help shape this pivotal role within our growing capability.
Join our multifunctional, multinational Kraken Field team and help make Octopus the go-to name in green home installations. Together, we'll create an integrated solution to retrofit homes across the world, making it easier and more affordable for customers to embrace green energy.
Responsibilities:
- Support a data-driven product development culture to guide design and measure progress
- Analyse data from the Kraken Field platform to extract meaningful insights
- Develop and implement advanced analytics models and machine learning algorithms
- Create actionable insights for end users to improve decision-making
- Partner with internal teams and clients to identify AI/ML features for development or enhancement
- Quantify opportunities to prioritise engineering efforts
- Design and conduct experiments, product testing, and releases
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience as a product data scientist or analyst in a fast-growing product company
- Expertise in Python, SQL, and advanced analytics/ML techniques
- Solid experience in experiment design and causal analysis
- An understanding of product management in defining and implementing new features
- Proficiency with big data technologies and cloud platforms
- Excellent communication skills to present complex findings to varied audiences
- Strategic thinking ability, relating decisions to overall team and customer experience goals
- Self-starter mentality with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Curiosity and ability to spot and harness ideas from diverse sources
