Infogrid is looking for an experienced and talented engineering manager to join our Product Engineering team. You will be leading a high-calibre team of engineers, who are distributed around the UK, working on our innovative ClimateTech product that helps some of the largest companies in the world reduce their carbon emissions.

You will be joining us at a critical time, and we can offer a genuine opportunity to the right manager to help shape and grow the engineering team. As the leader of a product-aligned team, you will be working closely with colleagues in Product and Design to shape the future direction of the product as well as set the technical direction.

The one constant we have is change - we need to move fast and innovate. Infogrid is establishing a new market within commercial real estate - a sector ripe for disruption. We have installed over 200,000 IoT sensors in thousands of buildings. We manage the stream of data into our data platform, powered by Snowflake, so we can build machine learning models that power insights for our Sustainability and Smart Maintenance solutions. We use tools such as DBT, Dagster and Cube.dev to surface these insights via our app (built with Python, AWS Lambda + Node.js, and React/Typescript). We use AWS infrastructure, and cloud-native services, in a multi-region setup to serve our customers, primarily in the US and UK.

Key Responsibilities

    • Technical
    • Comfortable working with a range of technologies, the team regularly use JavaScript, Python, Node, and AWS services.
    • Some awareness of Data Engineering principles; while not a deep specialism for this role, some awareness of data platforms such as Snowflake, RedShift, Dagster could be beneficial.
    • Guide the design, development and ownership of effective software that meets the strategic goals of your team and the whole business.
    • Provide technical knowledge, insight and leadership to peers and colleagues.
    • Seek out new technologies, tools and methodologies to evolve our development approaches and processes.
    • Ensuring technical quality meets the needs for a fast, reliable, always-on service.

    • People
    • Line manage a team of engineers with varying skill sets and experience.
    • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement and delivery.
    • Coach and mentor team members, further their professional development and create career progression opportunities.
    • Ability to communicate complex technology solutions in a clear and coherent way to different audiences

    • Delivery
    • Guide the technical delivery of a team, assisting team members when they become blocked.
    • Guide and encourage continuous improvement of your teamā€™s delivery and development processes.
    • Identify potential areas of risk and take mitigating action.
    • Support the communication of product and technical strategy to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Skilled in dealing with multiple product and technical priorities with a focus on practical decision-making.

    • You have some working knowledge of JS, Typescript, Python AWS (e.g. Lambda, ECS), Terraform, which would be beneficial in terms of supporting your team members.
