We have an exciting opportunity to join our decarbonisation of heating team as we explore products for the UK market and beyond.

Being part of the founding team, we’re looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join the Electrification of heat team. You will be joining a team that is innovative and forward thinking and you’ll have full autonomy to work creatively.

What you'll do

    • Design control algorithms for heat pumps and associated heating control devices, model control systems in C/C++ and Python, to interact with analogue inputs and sensors on I2C / SPI interfaces
    • Integrate and test control algorithms with external devices across various protocols (such as Modbus, CANbus) and transport layers (such as WIFI, RS-485, TCP)
    • Work with the Electronic engineers to design and implement control solutions
    • Write, maintain C/C++ code for ’bare metal’ / RTOS embedded devices
    • Review field performance of the product, identify issues, and work with suppliers to resolve
    • Write automated tests for production validation and integrate them into a continuous integration environment
    • Troubleshoot electrical and firmware issues, in new designs
    • Troubleshoot issues in the lab as well as in the field during alpha/beta trials
    • Collaborate with other groups on the design and implementation of new features

What you'll need

    • A degree in Embedded Firmware Design or equivalent
    • Good, demonstrable work experience in either embedded design or firmware
