About Octopus Electroverse

We’re making electric vehicle ownership as smart and as simple as possible, by building the giant, virtual charging platform of the future.

In just over two years, Octopus Electroverse has grown to become one of the largest eMobility players in Europe, with over 520,000 connected electric vehicle chargers and a customer ecosystem spanning web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto & Automotive OS, and more.

But it’s just the start: we’re busy launching in new countries, working with more automotive and tech partners, building exciting new features at scale, and creating the integrated charging experiences of the future - all in the name of making public EV charging super simple for customers.

Electroverse is a multifunctional team made up of product, development, commercial, operations, marketing, partnerships and more - all focused together on making Octopus the go-to name in EV charging. And we’re looking for smart individuals with an interest in the space who can help us make it happen.

We’re looking for a talented Operations Manager to join our team and help shape how the Electroverse Operations function grows.

You’ll be part of a rapidly growing product that looks after both private and business customers in the UK and overseas. Our Operations team is growing quickly and you’ll play a key part in helping to implement effective ways of working, create and improve business processes, and define how customers interact with Electroverse.

What you'll do

    • Take ownership of the day-to-day running of customer operations
    • Be the accountable person for ensuring we’re hitting important customer metrics and delivering awesome customer experiences
    • Manage Team Leads and Customer Specialists - coaching and inspiring them & helping to recruit new team members
    • Empower Team Leads to take ownership of their team’s success, coming to you for advice and mentorship
    • Define how our processes and metrics should change over time as our business grows and becomes more complex
    • Lead on project managing some of the more reactive work, e.g. curveballs that the eMobility industry and new products might throw our way
    • Review existing arrangements and processes, giving suggestions on alternatives as well as clear, actionable recommendations and measurable outcomes
    • Take ownership of operational data - both collection and clear internal reporting - and use it to inform action and improvements
    • Be willing to get stuck in: for example you’ll take ultimate responsibility for customer escalations and resolution, with a great contextual understanding of what it means to deliver exceptional customer service
    • Be flexible in busy periods: taking on responsibilities to help with the running of the Operations team - such as speaking to customers, hiring, managing interns, developing reporting tools
    • Work across a multi-functional team as the senior operations touchpoint: interfacing with colleagues in marketing, product, development, partnerships, data, etc.

What you’ll need

    • Experience working in Operations, ideally in a high-growth company
    • A calm and experienced operational mindset: able to plan ahead, scope, evaluate, and implement
    • The ability to thrive in ambiguity and take a structured approach to problem-solving
    • Strong analytical capabilities - being able to quantify requirements or problems and work through them based on rational principles is key
    • To be comfortable managing and interpreting data - you’ll need to be confident in Excel/Google Sheets and the ability to write SQL queries is desirable (though not essential)
    • An eye for detail and a desire to see things through to completion
    • A people person: you’ll be looked to for mentorship, advice and action from your team and will facilitate effective communication across different Electroverse functions
