We are redefining how people approach their health

ZOE is combining scientific research at a scale never before imagined and cutting-edge AI to improve the health of millions.

Created by the world’s top scientists, our personalised nutrition program is radically reimagining a fundamental human need – eating well for your own body. Currently available in the US, and available for pre-order in the UK, having generated a waitlist of over 300,000, ZOE is already helping tens of thousands of ZOE members adopt healthier habits and achieve their goals.

We are also the team behind the popular COVID Symptom Study, which played a critical role in the fight against COVID in the UK and has now expanded to become the ZOE Health Study (ZHS). ZHS uses the power of community science to conduct large-scale research from the comfort of contributors’ homes to understand health and prevent disease. . Our collective work and expertise in biology, engineering, data science, and nutrition science has led to multiple breakthrough papers in leading scientific journals such as Nature Medicine, Science, The Lancet, and more.

A remote-first, well-funded startup, we are backed by founders, investors, and entrepreneurs who have built multi-billion dollar technology companies. We are always looking for innovative thinkers and doers to join our team on a thrilling mission to tackle epic health problems that span the globe. Together, we can improve human health and touch millions of lives.

We value inclusivity, transparency, ownership, open-mindedness and diversity. We are passionate about delivering great results and learning in the open. We want our teams to have the freedom to make long-term, high-impact decisions, and the well-being of our teammates and the people around us is a top priority.

About the team

Our team of 55 builds everything that powers ZOE.

Our environment is complex. From mobile applications to AI & machine learning, lab integration, fulfilment, genomics pipeline, customer acquisition, scientific research and much more. Our product is both physical (our at home test kit) and digital. Our cross-functional teams have members from technology, product, product design, science, and operations.

Many of our initiatives require coordination across teams.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team and spearhead the development of the function.

You'll be

    • Establishing the Technical Program Management function, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, and laying the groundwork for future success and growth
    • Focussing on impact, not projects. We are agile, preferring to deliver regular small improvements.
    • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Science.
    • Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic initiatives with cross-cutting dependencies while managing scope, timeline, and resources. You will identify, assess and mitigate risks and dependencies and keep stakeholders informed.
    • Leading engineering programs that don't qualify as products (ex: tech migrations, compliance, …)
    • Leading the OKR process in technology.
    • Fostering a culture of collaboration, open communication, and accountability within the organisation, helping us to learn and improve as we go.
    • Driving continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Acting as a mentor and coach to members of the Technology team.
    • Ensuring teams work sustainably and are improving their DORA and SPACE metrics.

We think you'll be great if you

    • Have a proven track record in Technical Program Management, from idea to launching programs in multiple contexts throughout your career. You led initiatives in a multidisciplinary environment (Engineering, Data Science, Product, Design, Science, Operations, …)
    • Worked in a high pace startup or scaleup.
    • Have a technical background. You enjoy system design conversations with engineers or discussing the latest developments in generative AI.
    • Are comfortable talking about technical matters with business people and business matters with technical people. You can express complex concepts in plain language to reach broader audiences.
    • Prioritises impact over processes and adapts to the context. Processes are a tool, not the goal.

The interview process

    • Intro to ZOE with a Talent Partner (30 mins).
    • Intro with our VP of Engineering (30mins).
    • Technical Interview & Systems Design (90 mins). As part of this stage, we will ask you to teach us something technical asynchronously (text or video) to assess your ability to go in-depth and communicate.
    • Behavioural interviews with a Senior Engineering manager (60mins) and VP of Engineering (60 mins).
    • Meet a senior stakeholder outside of Technology (30mins) and meet a founder (30mins).
