As part of the wider Octopus Energy group, Octopus Energy Generation sources, invests in and actively manages a range of utility scale renewable energy assets. We are looking to expand our team as we continue to scale our investments base of c£6bn.

Since entering the renewables market in 2010, Octopus Energy Generation has grown to become the largest investor of solar power in Europe and a leading investor in onshore wind. We currently manage an increasingly global portfolio of renewable energy assets. The operational portfolio includes over 250 energy generating companies, delivering revenue in excess of £250m pa.

What you'll do

    • Work with stakeholders, gather requirements, and understand business needs to develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards that wow stakeholders
    • Build and maintain regular BI reports for the Octopus Energy Generation Team
    • Carry out data processes and checks to ensure data is accurately represented in reports and data repositories
    • Liaise with teams across the business to gather data requirements
    • Work with a data engineer to create necessary data pipelines to support projects and improve data delivery
    • Improve existing reports, identify improvements and efficiencies
    • Manage processes to onboard new renewable assets and collect the data required
    • Contribute and participate in the wider Octopus data community events including talks, hackathons, and stand-ups

What you'll need

    • A passion for working in energy and contributing to the energy transition
    • Comprehensive knowledge of data design, data modelling, data management, and data visualisation
    • An ability to see the big picture and communicate insights to the wider business as well as technical teams
    • To drill-down data and visualize data in the best possible way through charts/reports/dashboards
    • Financial literacy with an understanding of P&Ls, Balance Sheets, and Cashflow statements
    • Drive and curiosity to problem solve
    • Good communication skills (sharing insights with technical and non-technical stakeholders)
    • A passion for applying modern data tools to solve problems, and help colleagues make better decisions
    • Experience of working in a fund management and/or renewables business would be advantageous
    • Technical experience with the below technologies:
    • Creating reports and dashboards in Power BI (or similar BI tool), Dax
    • Wrangling data outside of a spreadsheet environment
    • Writing queries in SQL (dbt is a bonus)
    • A scripting language is a bonus (ideally Python)
    • Developing within the Microsoft Power Platform
