The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for helping the business realise the true value of data, you'll be working in the heart of their innovation function as you build highly scalable data pipelines to leverage the data platform for batch and streaming data. You'll also play a key role in the team, as you'll be responsible for managing junior members as well as working closely with the cross-functional team and business stakeholders to create source aligned data products, optimise data pipelines, and communicate complex solutions to experts and non-experts to ensure everyone is on the same page and working as collaboratively as possible to achieve the company goals.

What are your objectives

Your objectives as Data Engineer will be to collaborate with a cross functional team (Data Strategists, Data Scientists, Business Stakeholders etc.) to build highly scalable data pipelines to leverage data platforms for batch & streaming data, as well as processing large amounts of data using spark to ensure data is readily available for machine learning models, analytics, and business intelligence. You will use your passion for learning new skills and staying up-to-date with the latest tech to prototype new approaches and productionise solutions at scale for millions of users.You will also use your expertise to work closely with backend engineers to create source aligned data products in line with engineering best practices and business requirements. You'll be building products that will help the business become a global leader in data innovation.

What experience will help

Proven experience in designing and implementing data pipelines leveraging Spark, Kafka, SQS etc.

Strong experience with Spark (Pyspark or Scala)

Ability to write production-grade Python and/or Scala code

Any experience or knowledge of AWS data services and also deploying code using Jenkins as CI/CD

This is a 'team-first' environment, you'll be given the trust and authority to work on your own, but you'll also be helping out juniors, working in a cross-functional team, so clear communication and open-mindedness is key.
