We're looking for a mid to senior level Full Stack Developer to join a cross-functional product team that owns the technology for our Finance department. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest growing scale-ups, and to play your part in fighting climate change and saving our planet.
We have a great office environment, but if needed you can work mainly remote from within the UK, as long as you're happy to visit our London office at least once a month. Please note you must be already located in the UK and we are unable to sponsor visa's for this role.
What you'll do
- build APIs to allow different backend services to communicate for solving various financial tasks: invoice validation, credit checks, report generating etc.
- integrate third parties such as OCR tools, underwriting platforms, invoice generation tools
- develop domain-specific calculators and decisioning algorithms
- develop frontend applications for surfacing and interacting with financial data (working closely with UX designers)
- Collaborate within a dedicated cross-functional squad drawn from a dynamic and diverse team at Octopus
- Ensure a smooth end to end user experience using a modern frontend stack
- Create performant experiences that work consistently across modern browsers and devices
- Care about the code you write and its future maintainability
- Be self-directed but enjoy collaboration, contributing ideas and sharing knowledge
What you'll need
- All round tech skills, comfortable working on the backend and frontend.
- 3-5 years professional experience with React. We use NextJS but experience with that framework isn’t necessary.
- Experience writing solid, semantic HTML & CSS
- Professional experience with Python
- Experience with TypeScript is a nice to have
- Be confident taking ownership of the development of a project from inception through to delivery
- Value fundamental coding principles and best practices
- Enjoy working with multiple data sources and designing expressive APIs using GraphQL
- Experience writing robust and fault-tolerant software
