Most people come to Cleo to do work that matters. Every day, we empower people to build a life beyond their next paycheck, building a beloved AI that enables you to forge your own path toward financial well-being.

Backed by some of the most well-known investors in tech, we’ve reached millions of people to support them throughout their financial lives, from their first paycheck to their first home and beyond. We're hitting headlines too. This year, Forbes named us as one of their Next Billion Dollar Startups, and we were crowned the 'Hottest Tech Scaleup' at the Europas.

What you’ll be doing

Joining a cross-functional product squad with a mix of frontend engineers, backend engineers, data analysts, designers, UX writers, and others to develop features that enhance our users' financial health.

Supported by your squad, you'll have the opportunity to choose between two exciting paths: the Ruby on Rails route or the React Native route.

If you choose the Ruby on Rails route:

  • You'll be working on our monolithic application, building out data models, background workers, JSON APIs, and business logic services to support product features.
  • You'll write automated tests, use AB-Tests, feature flags, and other tools to iterate quickly and contribute to our data-driven development approach.

If you prefer the React Native route:

  • You'll be crafting amazing user experiences on our mobile application.
  • You'll write automated tests, use AB-Tests, feature flags, and dive into user journeys to optimise the Cleo experience.
  • You'll also be part of the release process for our weekly updates to the Apple and Google app stores.

In both paths, you'll be contributing to significant product feature work, such as building a secured credit card, launching budget rewind features, and enhancing subscription plans for various user types.

About you

  • Firstly and most importantly, the prospect of positively impacting society by improving the financial health of our users worldwide excites you.
  • You've familiarised yourself with our company values and engineering principles, and you're eager to embrace these opinions to deliver value through your work.
  • As a recent graduate with a Computer Science related degree, you have a foundation in software engineering. Regardless of your academic focus, you ideally have some experience with either Ruby on Rails or React/React Native, gained through coursework, side-projects, or commercial experience since graduating.

Join us in shaping the future of financial health technology, where you'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact while choosing a development path that aligns with your interests and skills.

Why? 99% of our users are based in the US – where financial health is often overlooked. We’ve decided to shift our focus to where we can provide the most value and make the greatest impact for users who need it most. Then we’ll be able to apply what we learn to better support our UK users in the future.
