This role would involve working day-to-day with the commercial team to construct and adapt models, source data, and visualise/interpret results. They would be responsible for using a mix of existing and novel models to produce meaningful, trustworthy results for commercial quotes at short timescales.
 

What you'll do

    • Work in the commercial markets team to answer customer queries and provide revenue forecasts describing innovative new power products;
    • Develop and refine models for calculating customer revenue and market outcomes in the energy sector;
    • Visualise and explain model outputs to technical and non-technical stakeholders;
    • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to develop new methods and tools for commercial modelling of energy systems, responding to new services and markets in a fast-growing company;

What you'll need

    • Rapid development/prototyping and experience creating interactive tools to process commercial/financial information (e.g. python, excel)
    • Ability to self-manage and maintain a small rapidly-changing codebase autonomously to a high standard
    • Ability to work within a larger organisation, alongside development teams and product managers
    • Experience with some key components of a conventional data science toolchain: notebooks, Python, pandas, numpy, et al
    • Experience deriving insights from data in a curious, observation-driven manner
    • Great communication skills; an interest in storytelling with data, and a desire to explain and craft a clear message from findings
    • A drive to get things done in a collaborative, agile development environment
    • A proven ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
    • Experience with some key components of a conventional data science toolchain: notebooks, Python, pandas, numpy, et al
    • Experience working with rapid prototyping and visualisation packages such as Excel and tableau (others are acceptable!)
    • CLI / unix literacy
    • Familiarity with machine learning or operational research (optimisation) techniques
    • Experience deriving insights from data in a curious, observation-driven manner
    • An interest in storytelling with data, and a desire to explain and craft a clear message from findings
    • In depth industry experience in software development & design
    • A drive to get things done in a collaborative, agile development environment

It would be great if you had

    • Experience with operational research and optimisation techniques
    • Experience with AWS or similar cloud providers
    • Experience analysing large volumes of data
