We are looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer with expertise in Node.js and Typescript, who will join the Supply and Demand tribe and lead large scale engineering projects that have the biggest impact at Stuart 🚀

You will have the chance to work and shape one of the most critical solutions at Stuart, working in a highly skilled cross functional team and reporting to Andrea.

We have a very helpful and collaborative team culture where engineers support each others' efforts via regular pairing, internal demos, taking online classes together, mentoring & running internal conferences several times a year!

For this role, you can be based anywhere in the UK.

What will I be doing? 🤔

    • Take ownership of end-to-end software development projects within the team, including planning, designing, coding, testing, and deployment. Collaborate with the team to define technical requirements, architecture, and development methodologies.
    • Dive deep into the core of real-time services and produce high-quality code that effectively addresses business, operations, and client needs.
    • Participate actively in architectural discussions, propose reliable, scalable solutions, and contribute to the overall technical for our payment integrations and finance systems.
    • Provide technical leadership to the team, leading and mentoring a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise through pair programming, code reviews, and workshops, covering areas such as architecture, coding, tooling, integration, and deployment.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify technical challenges, propose innovative solutions, contributing to the enhancement of our systems.
    • Contribute to additional departmental efforts, such as hiring, conducting community talks, defining team processes, and fostering team culture and growth.
    • We operate a flexible on-call policy within each service team with extensive training and no expectation to participate until each team member is fully integrated.

What do we need from you? 😎

    • Consolidated industry experience in the Node.js ecosystem and proficiency in TypeScript.
    • Ideally experience in designing and integrating solutions with industry-leading Payment Service Providers such as Stripe, Adyen, and Paypal.
    • Extensive experience in designing and implementing event-driven architecture to support scalable and efficient systems.
    • Experience with large-scale data and distributed systems, playing a critical role in supporting business operations.
    • Experience as a Technical Lead, effectively guiding teams, driving successful outcomes and coaching more junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
    • Experience with high quality software: well tested, well documented, well designed.
    • Experience working with Kafka or similar stream-processing software.
    • Versatility in working with various backend systems and architectures, adapting to different technical environments as required.
    • Fluent in English.
