What you will be doing

You will join Breathe’s Software Engineering team over the 2023 summer break for 10 weeks, and will be developing software solutions to help us deliver battery management systems in the automotive and consumer electronics industries. You will also work on internal software processes and infrastructure such as deployment of microservices. The successful candidate will learn the basics of battery controls, and best practices in software development, including the usage of Git/GitHub, gaining an understanding of the DevOps framework, and tools such as Docker and Jenkins. Most importantly, you will learn to write great code.


Your responsibilities

  • Working alongside the software team to develop embedded testing and control solutions
  • Developing methods for deployment of microservices for use across the company
  • Understanding, analysing and optimising our advanced battery estimation and real-time control algorithms
  • Injecting fresh ideas into our software development and testing
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of our internal testing database.

Requirements

  • Currently undertaking 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a highly relevant area such as (but not limited to): Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
  • Available from 3rd July 2023 for 10 weeks
  • Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor VISAs for this role
  • A student with eagerness to learn, and develop new skills
  • A self-starter with great problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Programming language experience: MATLAB/Simulink/Python
  • Knowledge of Git, or other version control software is desirable
  • Embedded C/C++ is a plus
  • Microcontroller experience is a plus
