We're looking for a talented Creative Designer to join our in-house Brand & Creative team as we gear up to build out our brand even further and to feed even more happy dogs. Weā€™re looking for someone with a strong design background and a well-rounded skill set who can confidently work across multiple mediums and channels, to deliver designs that help us stand out just as much as our unique Fresh meals (we are different to the rest, you see). Youā€™ll integrate yourself into every step of our creative process, from ideation to execution whilst having plenty of opportunities to hone your craft and grow, and having a key impact on Butternutā€™s visual aesthetic. With each project, youā€™ll play a key role in Butternutā€™s mission to deliver health and happiness to dogs everywhere. If your tail is wagging, read onā€¦

You'll be working closely with the rest of the Creative Studio team and our key stakeholders (Brand, Marketing, Innovation & New & Existing Product Development) on bringing new and exciting products to life, such as new recipes, treats and so much more. As well as this, youā€™ll work on projects that make being a Butternut customer easier and more enjoyable, like improving our delivery experience or packaging.Ā 

In this role you can expect to:

  • Take creative projects from concept to delivery, as well as everything in between.
  • Use business and brand insight to inform creative ideas and design decisions.
  • Play a key role in building the Butternut brand by designing high-visibility and high-impact brand and conversion-led campaign creatives such as:
    • Digital (Emails, web banners, social advertising etc.)
    • Print (Inserts, posters, booklets, signage, gifting etc.)
    • Out of home advertising
  • Add value to our customers and improve their experience through packaging designs for:
    • Exciting new and innovative products
    • Existing range expansions
    • Our overall unboxing experience
  • Champion the Butternut brand - ensuring visual consistency and quality across all creative work
  • Collaborate closely with our team of passionate and driven creatives.
  • Help us feed more happy and healthy dogs.

  • Highly creative and passionate about your craft
  • Full of ideas that you are able to execute just as well as you can generate them
  • Excellent communicator
    • Able to produce clear and inviting pitch/overview documents.
    • Articulate in your vision and can inspire others - from teammates, to customers and of course, dogs.
  • Comfortable in close collaboration with others (discovering a solution), as well as working autonomously (delivering design)
  • Strong problem solver - you see opportunities to push creative boundaries in every brief, no matter how big or small
  • Considers customer and business insights to make design decisions
  • Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Passion for start-ups
  • Obsessed with dogs

Technical requirements:

  • 4+ years experience in a design role
  • Fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite
    • Illustrator
    • InDesign
    • Photoshop & Lightroom
    • AfterEffects - advantageous
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong visual brand identities through content and design.
  • Good understanding of print, packaging, and production processes
  • Strong knowledge of typography, artworking and layoutĀ 
  • Not a must-have but a flair for illustration would be nice to have
  • Experience in building effective creative campaigns
  • A strong portfolio of creative work that demonstrates versatile design skills and experience in creating designs across multiple mediums and channels (packaging, print, digital design, campaign)
