orbit are proud to have partnered with one of the biggest retail brands in the UK at the strt of an incredibly exciting digital transformation project. You will be the Enterprise Architect responsible for leading their Integration and Engineering architecture across the technology function. Determining strategy and roadmap for the integration and engineering domains, governing the platforms, patterns, and use; transforming what is there today onto next generation systems for one of the UK's leading retailers.

Our client are currently undertaking a large-scale business transformation program where application integration lies at the very heart. The EA – Integration & Engineering role is critical to the programme success and broader technology strategy, with a need to provide innovation and thought leadership in a large and complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, architecture and design of the Integration and Engineering landscape, platforms, and patterns.
  • Creating and managing the enterprise technology strategy and roadmaps for integration and engineering across all business units.
  • Balancing business strategy with the timelines available, and determining how technologies can best fulfil both needs in the short and long term
  • Producing technology transition roadmaps and integration patterns, bringing into play several factors such as Industry and Domain best practice, available technologies and business need
  • Working closely with senior business and technology leaders within the organisation to shape the vision, and being seen as the go-to point for that technology vision
  • Governing all integration and engineering use across a broad application landscape, including 3rd parties
  • Supporting the programme teams to deliver the programme outcomes in the timelines required and provide initial architectural steer
  • Leading a team of Integration Solution Architects, providing domain expertise and support in their design work
  • Being part of the Technology Extended Leadership Team to drive positive change into the function

Requirements

  • Extensive experience operating as an Enterprise Architect in the systems integration and application engineering space.
  • Detailed knowledge of the design, development, and test of application integration. Ideally you will come from an integration development background, experienced with working on large transformation projects with diverse systems.
  • Experience in operating in large enterprise landscapes with complex and varied integration needs, you will have experience ranging from traditional managed file transfer and EDI patterns through to modern API and event driven architectures
  • Skilled in cloud integration platforms and patterns, ideally you will have a deep understanding and specialism in Azure Integration Services and developing and running applications in Azure.
  • Knowledgeable of the broader application engineering landscape, with the ability to enable development teams, Including modern application design patterns; such as serverless/microservices, development practices and frameworks, CI/CD, application runtimes, testing methodologies and low code/no code concepts
  • You'll be experienced with traditional and emergent architecture practices as an existing Enterprise Architect, knowledgeable of TOGAF but also able to operate effective architecture practice within agile delivery methodologies.
  • The ability to find ways to make things happen and work with diverse teams to set and govern direction
  • Delivery of enterprise integration architectures and practices from scratch, within complex application landscapes including ERP, COTS, Bespoke, Cloud and SAAS systems
