We’re hiring a Head of Brand & Marketing to work alongside our friendly team of software engineers, product managers, designers and more that are at the forefront of transforming the energy sector.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for a Head of Brand & Marketing, to lead all aspects of our marketing work, how our customers see us, and how to showcase our product and brand in the different global markets we operate in.
About you
Our ideal candidate meets many - but not necessarily all - of the below criteria:
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience across the energy and technology startup environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing global business strategies to generate high-quality leads using a variety of channels and tactics.
- Experience in creating and executing comprehensive global digital marketing campaigns that align with our business goals.
- You are an incredibly motivated and organised person. You enjoy the process of prioritising work and setting timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- You’re resourceful, resilient, and flexible, and will help clear the path for everyone to do their best work.
- You are an excellent communicator who can build relationships with teammates from different disciplines, making sure that everyone is clear about what’s required of them.
- You are confident and well adept in communicating and collaborating with external clients.
- You’re fluent in English, even if it’s not your first language.
Also desirable:
- Experience in scale-up environments.

About the role
You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
1. Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Marketing Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive, integrated marketing campaigns that drive lead generation, customer acquisition, and enhance market engagement. Elevate brand awareness and establish Piclo’s prominence in the industry while maintaining its unique voice.
- Brand Strategy and Identity Oversight: Formulate and direct a cohesive brand strategy that reflects Piclo’s core values, mission, and market differentiators. Guarantee uniformity in the brand's identity and voice across all communication channels and customer touchpoints.
- Content and Digital Marketing Oversight: Oversee the development of compelling content for the company’s website, blog posts, social media, and multimedia assets. Direct digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media campaigns, to maximise online presence and drive significant traffic.
2. Financial Leadership and Organisational Management
- Budget Management and Resource Allocation: Collaborate with senior executives to establish the marketing budget, strategically allocating resources to maximise ROI across campaigns, events, and external marketing activities.
- Team Leadership and Structural Development: Lead the global marketing department, structuring the team to efficiently meet the organisation's marketing needs. Provide executive-level guidance and mentorship, nurturing a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
3. Executive Collaboration and Market Influence
- Executive Collaboration: Engage with other executive team members and department heads to ensure that marketing strategies are perfectly aligned with the overall business objectives, product development goals, and policy initiatives.
- Performance Metrics and Market Intelligence: Set comprehensive performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities. Leverage advanced market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions and keep ahead of industry trends.
- Public Relations and Strategic Communications: Lead the management of external PR agencies and maintain influential media relationships to secure extensive press coverage and enhance Piclo's reputation. Represent the company at major industry events and in public forums.
- Policy Advocacy and Strategic Messaging: Provide senior-level support to the Policy team, leveraging marketing expertise to enhance Piclo’s strategic messaging and positioning in global markets.

Who we are
Piclo’s mission is to decarbonise the grid. We are an independent marketplace for Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Our software solutions help these batteries, electric vehicles, homes and offices to sell their flexibility to electricity grid operators. And we help these grid and system operators create new markets through which to buy that flexibility.
To date, Piclo has over 300,000 registered flexible assets representing 22 GW of registered flex capacity, with flexibility contracts awarded totalling £74m and 2.6 GW+ of flexible capacity procured.
Piclo currently operates globally, with current markets in the UK, Europe (Ireland, Italy, Portugal), the United States, and Australia - with ambitions to further expand.
