The Curriculum specialist plays a vital role within the small team that not only creates, reversions and delivers content but ensures the service develops strategically and constantly evolves to meet the changing needs of our thousands of subscribers.

The Senior Curriculum Producer work across various editorial projects, producing high-quality digital educational resources for primary school children and their teachers. The role also involves supervising the Assistant Producer. This position will have a reporting line to the Head of Production and work closely alongside the Instructional Designer

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Producing and advising on high quality curriculum aligned content for both teachers and pupils.
  • Aligning and localising content to UK standards and learning objectives.
  • Manage and plan highlight rows with timely curriculum content.
  • Liaising and supporting colleagues in production, particularly concerning the news service and topical channels.
  • Quality assuring/editing new learning content including working closely with other team members to ensure content is uploaded correctly with titles, keywords and descriptions relevant to curriculum.
  • Writing curriculum outlines for video content texts for multimedia activities and pintables, and the accompanying teacher support notes.
  • Ability to produce differentiated content and content that meets SEND needs.
  • Staying fully conversant and up to date with DE products and services in UK/Intern.
  • Advising the sales and marketing team on product updates and any changes in user experience.
  • Representing the ‘voice of the teacher’ in the content team: ensuring that all content is developed in line with best educational practice; keeping abreast of trends in education and developments in government policy.
  • Assisting with product training and sales enablement across the UK/International business.
  • Receiving and responding to customer feedback relating to educational content, features and functions in service.

  • Liaising with external subject specialists and subject associations; being fully aware of current educational thinking in the delivery of specific subjects.
  • Working with colleagues across the Production and Marketing departments to agree on roll-out plans for new content.
  • Working with corporate education partnership colleagues to deliver educational content as contractually agreed with third parties.
  • Working with product development teams to factor in upcoming functionality into content planning as well communicating developments that would be beneficial to customers.
  • Identifying bugs or issues and problem solving as well as communicating to appropriate teams to get them resolved as quickly as possible.
  • Working to agreed budget and timescale, hitting sign-off points, working quickly and accurately.

Requirements

  • Experience of producing material for school-age children.
  • Interest in news and topical content.
  • First-class English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Organised with strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to devise and adhere to briefs.
  • Ability to liaise with and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Ability to deliver on schedule and on budget.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multitude of tasks and time within a busy production schedule.
  • Localisation experience.
  • This person will be enthusiastic and pro-active.
  • Experience with content management systems and comfortable using a range of software, excel is a must.
  • An awareness of the main factors affecting page design and layout on websites.
  • Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at primary level in England. (Please note applicants without a teaching qualification will not be considered for this role).
  • A thorough knowledge of the EYFS, key stage 1 and 2 curriculum.
  • Experience of developing curricula is essential.
  • At least 3 years' experience in digital multimedia or video production.
  • Strong and demonstrable editorial judgement.
  • Strong editorial skills: writing, grammar, spelling, and proofreading.
  • Demonstratable ability to work to budgets and deadlines.
  • Experience working across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to manage and balance own workload.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with content management systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current uses of digital technologies in education.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple remote team members.
  • Flexible and problem- solving attitude.

Occasional travel in the UK to visit schools and conferences.
