About your new role

As part of our growth journey, we are looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Administration team. You will provide automation, tooling and cloud infrastructure support to NQC’s platforms and services. You will get stuck into project work and you will lead the migration of our infrastructure from Azure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will bring a strong background in cloud computing, and be responsible for leading a small team of engineers, ensuring that the migration is completed on-time and on-budget.

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you will be required to undertake the following responsibilities as part of your day to day activities:

  • Configuration, management, maintenance and development of NQC’s platforms and services ensuring that they are running efficiently and constantly seeking to improve performance wherever possible
  • Developing and maintaining a scalable, resilient, GCP based infrastructure using an infrastructure as code approach
  • Creating and maintaining documentation related to the migration process
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO security practices, IT security policies, and governance frameworks
  • Working with other teams to ensure a smooth transition to the new infrastructure
  • Continuously improve the infrastructure by identifying areas for optimization and implementing changes as necessary
  • Contributing to platform architecture and design, driving continuous improvement.
  • Supporting development and project teams and acting as a technical escalation point for all service related incidents. Leading a small team of infrastructure engineers.
  • Working closely with the Development Manager assisting in the design and security of supporting technical architecture
  • Liaising with an array of stakeholders to collaboratively ensure minimal downtime and disruption and executing root cause analysis to eliminate underlying or potential issues

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in cloud environment security configuration, management, compliance and monitoring
  • Demonstrable experience of linux system management
  • Knowledge of ISO security practices, IT security policies, and governance frameworks
  • Understanding of networking principles and Internet protocols
  • Stakeholder management
  • Strong eye for detail and documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive attitude with a passion for mentoring others
  • Strong problem-solving skills
