This is an exciting opportunity to join our Chief Digital Officer's growing team, leading on the development and launch of software solutions that improve our own automation and accelerate our technology road map. The team's role is to augment the existing business with new innovation, insights and digital products as a self-starting, fast paced, solution development team.

About this role

We now require an experienced Lead Engineer to build out secure, optimised code, SaaS solutions and products. You will see the “big picture” and create approaches for software design and implementation to guide the growing development team. A great Lead Engineer has a strong technical background and is aware of the industry content they work in. They are experienced in design and possess the ability to develop a unified vision for software features and functions. The core role is to provide a framework for the development of software that will result in high quality software solutions across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will be comfortable in the start-up environment and ready to tackle the challenge themselves. Short term there are a number of projects to build against, longer term this will evolve to a senior leadership position within a growing digital tech team, managing key stakeholders and maturing the business’ homemade solutions. We will work closely with the successful candidate to develop their skills and career further.


Responsibilities

  • Make key decisions on software architecture and tech stack.
  • Lead a team of engineers to help develop the Connected Kerb platform.
  • Oversee team as a service software builds, ensuring that the right technical decisions are being made.
  • Work closely with product owners on technical specs of user stories.
  • Ensure our systems comply with top security standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to engineers.
  • Help set up agile processes within the company.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, repository management and monitoring.
  • Get your hands dirty and develop code when required.
  • Build POCs to help validate ideas.

Requirements

  • A top communicator, striving for clarity in everything you do.
  • Experience in and comfortable leading agile teams, rather than being a 100% individual contributor.
  • You are familiar with the tech stacks listed below and are comfortable making key decisions based on their principles.
  • Enjoy proactively finding issues in team processes and improving them.
  • Experience with Azure technologies.
  • Comfortable making key decisions on the software architecture.
  • Ability to design data intensive applications.
  • Desirable: Experience in Electric Vehicle charging.
  • Desirable: Experience in OCPP & OCPI and you are aware of new updates and how they affect the user.


Tech stack

Although we have kicked off a few projects where the tech stack has been decided, the rest is up to you to agree with our CDO. We’d like to lean on Microsoft technologies, retaining our future tech stack in Azure wherever possible.

Our current tech stack consists of; Java 17+, Spring & Spring Boot, React 17+, Typescript, React Native, Node.js 16+, Nest.js, Cosmos DB, Azure Devops, Miro & Microsoft Teams.
