This is an exciting opportunity to join our Chief Digital Officer's growing team, leading on the development and launch of software solutions that improve our own automation and accelerate our technology road map. The team's role is to augment the existing business with new innovation, insights and digital products as a self-starting, fast paced, solution development team.

Connected Kerb is looking for a passionate and self-starting Data Engineer to help condition the businesses data lake ready for scale and collaborate with key teams to help charge their growth. Day to day you will work closely with the insights team to deliver companywide analytics that inform our business objectives and further our journey. As our first Data Engineer hire, this high-profile role requires someone with expertise in MS Azure and services including Data Factory, Databricks, Stream Analytics, and Synapse Analytics. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working in an agile environment and can capture requirements and have a sharp eye in maintaining data quality and process. There will also be plenty of opportunity to shape the role going forward, and get involved in specific projects as each of us carry a growth mindset collaborating to fix challenges together, most often beyond our core roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will own the development and implementation of data pipelines ETL and modelling using the latest Microsoft technologies: Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, SQL Database, IoT hub and Streaming analytics.
  • Work with other members of the team to understand and document business requirements, evaluate options, research, and propose suitable solutions.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to capture requirements, evaluate options, and recommend best suitable solutions.
  • Ensure that all work is carried through the environments, source controlled with regularity and that deployment packages are robust and well organised.
  • Document our processes to ensure they are clear, repeatable, and change can be controlled where it is required.
  • Working with system and business owners to ensure a proactive approach while supporting data governance and going international.
  • Identifying new ways to deliver business value, especially around Azure data intelligence capabilities.
  • Ensure we follow best practices within MS Azure while maintain the budget.

Requirements

  • BSc in CS or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a related function.
  • Experience in ETL, data modelling, and streaming.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and PySpark, and databricks.
  • Passion for clarity and using data to uncover insights.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with MLOps is a plus.
  • Certified Azure Data Engineer is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI is a plus.
