JOB HIGHLIGHT
The Managing Director, UK will be joining charity: water at a very exciting time. They will be responsible for implementing a new strategy, provided by Boston Consulting Group who consulted with the team and board, and researched the market.
 
JOB SUMMARY
Working across teams and oceans, the Managing Director will ensure the strategy leverages the brand, values, and products of charity: water HQ to engage donors, raise funds and build on our base of support. The Managing Director will lead all charity: water's operations and fundraising in the UK and across Europe. Working closely with US colleagues and teams, they'll represent the organisation with presentations and pitches to corporations, donors, and the press. They'll manage challenges and create strategic solutions for roadblocks or unexpected delays. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic strategic thinker, communicator, connector, experienced manager with a proven record of fundraising results. As a leader of a small team, they know that no task is too small to help the organisation grow. This position will partner with and report into the US Executive team to drive the strategy and fundraising for our UK/European markets, and manage and grow the UK team.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic strategic thinking, communicator, connector, experienced manager with a proven record of fundraising results. As a leader of a small team, they know that non task is too small to help the organisation grow. They will be responsible for:
      Working across teams and oceans to execute a new strategy that will build our UK branch from a £3M+ fundraising operation to a £20M operation by 2030.
      Becoming the public face of charity: water in the UK, representing the organisation in pitches to companies, the press, and high net worth families to drive revenue.
      Ensuring the UK strategy is resourced appropriately, leveraging brand strength, product and staff from HQ as needed.
      Promoting the brand, improving processes, and embracing the values charity: water was built on.
      Managing the Associate Director of Brand & Marketing; hiring and managing additional staff as required to grow mass market, major donor, and trust and foundation income.
      Overseeing UK board member relationships, managing meetings and the budget.
 
MUST HAVES
The ideal candidate will be or have:
      A leader and team player with experience running and mentoring a small but powerful organisation.
      Experience of setting and meeting ambitious fundraising targets.
      A willingness to develop with the organisation, have an entrepreneurial spirit and be adaptable to change within a growing international organisation.
      Demonstrable experience initiating and cultivating relationships with both potential and existing major donors, corporations, and boards.
      Humble and co-operative with a strong sense of autonomy.
      Experience in building partnerships with brands to raise awareness and funds.
      Fantastic written and spoken communication skills and the ability to communicate in a compelling and captivating manner.
      A knowledge of nonprofits around compliance and fundraising best practice.
      A right to work in the UK with easy access to London and a willingness to travel internationally - approximately 4 weeks a year.
