Satellite Vu was founded in 2016 with the aim to fill the void in high resolution thermal data from space. It has, since then, turned into a high-growth space tech company poised to help the globe address its sustainability challenges through high-resolution thermal imaging. We are on a quest to ensure any structure on the planet is energy efficient and support the reduction of businesses’ carbon footprint. In near real-time, we will use infrared technology to monitor the Earth and will be able to assess and determine insights into economic activity. This will allow businesses to make decisions to reduce their climate impact.


As an early stage business, you can expect your role to develop over time. However, some of the types of things you could be getting involved in are:

  • Lead the design and implementation of the added-value data and analytics on top of Satellite Vu raw data offering, working with the product management and imagery teams
  • Develop web services which are closely aligned with open standards in the community, such as OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standards
  • Use Satellite Vu's STAC imagery archive to enable product and insights discovery
  • Engage with Satellite Vu's approach to the software lifecycle, by integrating with our existing CI/CD infrastructure
  • Understand and communicate the complexity of potential insights and solutions both within the squad and to the wider company


  • Experience in backend software development (Python)
  • Web API development experience using python web frameworks (such as FastAPI)


  • Knowledge of vector/raster geospatial computing packages (such as rasterio and shapely)
  • Working collaboratively in a constantly evolving environment.
  • People management / mentoring experience


  • Call with our People Director to discuss the role in more detail as well as your own wants and needs. The call will last about 30 minutes
