The Job
Flo’s product is backed up by rigorously researched scientific evidence.
That wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic scientists, partnering with the Director of Science, the internal teams here, and the wider academic and commercial community to help millions stay well and live better.
We’re looking for someone with a strong scientific background with exceptional academic writing skills who also has the communications skill set required to develop and deliver targeted, creative scientific communications programmes for a wide range of audiences (app users, scientists, HCPs, and the general public).
You’ll work on projects across the full spectrum of our medical and scientific communications, leading publication and communication strategies for multiple research projects - both in-house and with our academic partners - on menstrual health literacy, sexual health, reproductive ageing, and wearable devices (among others) to showcase the medical and scientific credibility of Flo’s app
Your Experience
Must have:
- PhD in a Health related field, with focus on Women's Health or Reproductive Medicine.
- Strong academic writing skills (study protocols, ethics etc.) with a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals as a first-author.
- Proven experience in developing scientific/medical communications or in a professional communications role (e.g. medical writer / Editor / Journalism), working to deliver scientific content across a range of media.
- Excellent communication skills leading open and honest communications with stakeholders of all levels, being proactive and communicating clearly, confidently and with authenticity.
- Experience in working in a fast paced, agile environment, with proven organisational management skills to a deadlined schedule.
- Proven evidence of working flexibly, with the ability to ‘switch gears’ between independent and collaborative work.
- Experience working in the Health Tech or Digital Health industry.
Nice to have:
- PhD in Reproductive Medicine, Health Promotion, Population Health, Public Health, or Biomedicine.
- Experience using project management software such as Jira task tracking.
- Experience partnering with commercial content teams to assist in communication’s strategy from a Scientific perspective.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Working in close collaboration with Flo’s Science Team, Scientific advisory board, and University collaborators to identify research gaps within Women’s Health in order to develop research publication plans in alignment with Flo’s product strategy.
- Working with cross-functional teams (Medical, PR, Marketing departments) on developing and implementing Flo's strategic science communication plans in alignment with our publication strategy.
- Working with the Flo Science Team and Product departments on enhancing scientific and medical credibility of the app for app users (both in the app and on Flo’s website) and for external stakeholders (via social media, magazines, conferences, etc).
- Preparing high quality materials across a range of medical communications activities, from study protocols, study reports, scientific publications and presentations to marketing-based press-releases, newsletters, and reports.
- Growing our Scientific advisory board and establishing processes for regular communications and meetings.
- Keeping up-to-date with scientific findings within Women’s Health research and performing evidence reviews and gap analyses.
Your targets will be:
- Leading medical writing for scientific publications for projects dedicated to health literacy, sexual health, reproductive ageing etc.
- Improving scientific credibility of Flo within the app and on external platforms.
- Increasing scientific visibility of the Science team by participating in conferences and various events, and by promoting Flo scientific activities on social media (Linkedin etc.).
Salary Range:
UK - 55,000 - 65,000 gross per year.
Ranges may vary depending on your skills, competencies and experience.
