We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Executive to join our Pre-Sales team. Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 base (£39,200 - £41,200 OTE).Reporting to: Mike Hollingbery, Head of Global Marketing. Location: London with work from home and flexible options.

About the role
This is the sales front-line, the beginning of long-lasting and beneficial client relationships that will deliver positive change to our transport network. You will be responsible for opening doors, for starting the dialogue and for setting high-quality appointments for Business Development Managers.

You will have a key role in achieving the growth aspirations of VivaCity in the UK and will have the opportunity to have a lasting impact. An interest in technology, transport and/or the urban environment is a big plus.

This is a target-led position, where targets will be set monthly/quarterly, so a go-getter attitude, tenacity, accountability, and resilience are crucial. You will work both collaboratively with our Business Development Managers and independently to develop relationships with your clients, internal stakeholders and team

About you
You are effective at seeking out sales opportunities, know how to speak a client’s language, and are able to conduct meaningful and valuable conversations with clients. You are an excellent communicator, customer-centric, and personable. You can understand competitive landscapes, as well as the complexities of local authority and their wider public sector.

What you'll be doing:

    • Contacting prospects (calls/emails/LinkedIn) to establish their situation and pain and secure new business sales appointments
    • Diligently and independently pursuing research into new clients.
    • Taking accountability for the pre-sales side of your accounts.
    • Researching organisations and potential contacts online to identify new leads and new markets
    • Working closely with the Business Development Managers and the Head of UK Sales to identify and prioritise high potential prospects and communicate to them on what is working well/areas for improvement. 
    • Providing marketplace feedback and competitor intelligence to internal groups (including marketing and product teams) to improve and enhance product offerings.
    • Attending conferences and industry events in the UK to deepen your understanding of the traffic monitoring, road safety and ITS markets.
    • Keeping up to date with the latest relevant industry and government news and sharing it with the Sales Team.
    • Submitting correct, detailed supplier registrations on key online portals.
    • Recording all activities in the CRM and use the CRM as your central, primary working tool to generate valuable reports and insights.

Requirements for the role:

    • 6+ months work experience in a relevant sales role.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to customise compelling email content.
    • Articulate, friendly and assertive manner.
    • Ability to build relationships quickly over the phone by asking probing questions to understand client needs.
    • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce relevant, personalised email content which captures attention and compels recipients to respond.
    • Excellent research skills, including identifying key prospect targets and unearthing contact details.
    • Track record of success in outbound prospect calling or telemarketing.
    • Track record of hitting sales targets.
    • Ability to quickly understand new technical concepts and develop a good understanding of product capabilities.

While not required for the role, we would love to see any of the following:

    • Experience of fast-paced, high-growth start-up environments.
    • Experience with and understanding of working with complex, analytical technologies.
    • Understanding of public sector procurement .
    • Accustomed to working through a CRM (Hubspot, Pipedrive)
