Are you an operations lead with finance skills and passionate about scaling a tech startup with positive impact AI software and hardware products?

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager with finance / accounting skills to deliver reliable and effective operations activities and grow our technology startup to deliver award-winning AI co-pilot and smart security products. Our tech helps organisations like Network Rail and Ministry of Defence save lives and protect critical infrastructure in remote areas without GPS and connectivity. You will be working hands-on in different business operations areas on rotation and eventually specialising in one of them (finance, HR, facilities and office administration, legal, marketing – we can help you choose), reporting to the COO and working daily with operations team, management team and the COO. You will also be part of a fun, experienced and high performance team that has recently won the $1,000,000 grand prize from GeniusNY, the world’s largest accelerator for unmanned systems in New York! We are now growing our presence in Central New York – we have recently opened an office, got involved in the wider ecosystem of accelerators and built partnerships with fellow drone and robotic companies, as well as business advisers/ mentors.

What you’ll be owning:

• Coordinating a scaling operations team to deliver HR and recruitment, facilities, logistics, office day to day activities and projects
• Finance: ensure accurate cashflow, budgeting, forecasting, procurement and bookkeeping
• Legal: review NDAs, complete trademark applications, ensure compliance with migrant sponsorship via the Sponsor Management System, engage with external solicitors to resolve any complex matters
• Manage process improvement projects (project planning, risk mitigation, reporting and monitoring) such as software rollouts, culture initiatives such as team offsites, other business expansion and change management activities
  

To succeed in this role, you must have:

• Finance/accounting proficiency or qualifications
• Project management experience or qualifications
• Experience hiring and managing people as a line manager
• Prior operations management experience in startups or equivalent dynamic, fast-paced environments

Bonus if you have:

• Business management qualification
• Experience working with hardware, B2B technology companies
• Legal support / contracts review and management experience
• Marketing proficiency or experience
  
• Technical recruitment experience (eg hiring engineers and developers)

Location:

Hybrid. We thrive on being a tight-knit team! As such, we encourage everyone who can to get together at our office in Oxford a couple of days a week.
