Working hours - Full time

Band - 3.2

Salary - £57,955 - £63,970 (depending on location and proven ability)

Contract type/duration - Fixed term contract until 29th March 2024

The Applied Data & Technology team at CPC is a multidisciplinary team of technologists, data scientists and engineers, software engineers, service designers and researchers. The team plays an important role in enabling CPC to successfully meet its strategic objectives to build the economy and develop UK businesses. Working across a diverse project portfolio and technology areas in support of domains like rail and stations, air mobility and airports, maritime and logistics, integrated infrastructure, homes and housing and place leadership.

As places become more populated and connected, and respond to emergent agendas around net zero, regional economic growth, and post-pandemic recovery and resilience there is an ever increasing need to make use of data for better decision making and to underpin new technological innovations. From supporting local authorities and central government to make better use of data to deliver new homes against a backdrop housing crisis, to building digital twins that help rail stations support social distancing measures, our projects demonstrate the art of the possible and pull technical ideas through to an applied setting. This position takes an enabling role in the innovation ecosystem – often working with new businesses to support an emerging product or service or acting as thought leaders.


The Senior Product Manager will play an important role in delivering key projects related to integrated infrastructure, air mobility and other CPC ecosystems as appropriate. The role will involve leading on engagement with diverse stakeholders including infrastructure asset owners, technology development partners, academics and government, honing use cases and understanding user needs as well as working with internal teams to deliver and direct product development, translating ideas into strategy and features.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with data scientists, software developers, ecosystem innovation, marketing and other teams as required
  • Working closely with Technical Programme Managers on milestone projects
  • Incorporating feedback and input from customers, partners and in-house teams on product strategy and finding ways to expand product market reach
  • Developing and implementing product strategies that are appropriate for achieving programme and project goals
  • Building the product vision and roadmap, and using user requirements and prioritising product features and capabilities
  • Collecting and analysing feedback from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and end products
  • Owning and managing the product backlog and overseeing priorities in development sprints
  • Working with technical teams to assess technical challenges, coordinate in-house teams and third-party consultants and subcontractors to deliver
  • Producing and review product requirements documents
  • Working with project and programme managers to ensure products and releases are delivered correctly and on schedule
  • Making creative recommendations to expand product base and vision
  • Suggesting ways to track product use and impact
  • Working with team leads and director to create relevant value propositions for Applied Data and Technology
  • You may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties to support the Catapult in achieving its strategic outcomes and ensure effective business operations

Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience in delivering innovative projects and products
  • Strong track record of successful stakeholder engagement in a technical context
  • Enjoy forming relationships, inspiring teams around a common purpose and significant prior experience in successfully deploying innovative products
  • A confident influencer and communicator with the ability to adapt style and message for a variety of different audiences
  • Possess a strong combination of technology plus stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experienced in design and product leadership with a clear understanding of how to understand and prioritise user needs
  • Hands-on product manager and desire to work in a fast paced, ever-moving environment
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks
  • Problem-solving aptitude and creative thinking skills

  • Skills and experience working in innovative companies at the cutting edge of their fields, in cities, transport or climate
