Salary: Full time - £65,610 - £71,350 - Dependant on experience
Reporting to: Head of Bids
Working hours: Full time
Contract type/duration: Fixed Term – 4 months from start date
Connected Places Catapult is the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and places. We provide impartial innovation related services for public bodies, businesses, and infrastructure providers to catalyse step-change improvements in the way people live, work and travel. We connect businesses and public sector leaders to innovative research to spark innovation and grow new markets. We run technology demonstrators and SME accelerators to scale fresh solutions that drive growth, spread prosperity, and eliminate carbon.
Role purpose
The Proposal Writer will be an essential contributor to an ongoing and leadership supported work stream to create written sales assets for our business’s core propositions. The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Development Director, Ecosystem Directors, the Marketing team, and other colleagues as appropriate, in finalising this targeted piece of work within a contractually agreed timeframe.
The main focus of the role will be to shape technical content into clear, concise and client ready writing in line with the company’s brand, position and process.
Key activities
You will:
- Simplify complexity by turning technical bullet points into meaningful, jargon-less sentences that are captivating and easy to read.
- Re-write selected case studies that are relevant for each component of the value propositions in a factual and focused language that showcases our strengths and experience.
- Work closely with Marketing to draft marketing, sales and pitch material that grabs the attention and sparks the curiosity of potential future clients.
Requirements
We are looking for someone that has:
- A love of writing and a flair for communicating complex ideas
- Proven success in writing effective, concise and compelling content for various stakeholder and audiences
- A degree level qualification in an appropriate subject
- Experience of competitive bidding in a commercial, and / or R&D environment from a minimum of five years in a bid writing / bid management environment
- A collaborative approach with the ability to support team members with the necessary skills and confidence to write and produce materials themselves
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in challenging and dealing with senior stakeholders
- Close attention to detail, including forensic proofreading skills
- An ability to work independently to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment
- Exceptional time management and ability to meet inflexible deadlines
- A genuine interest in sustainability and making an impact
