What we do

At Perlego, there are over 100 of us working hard to make education accessible to all. We believe access to good quality affordable learning unlocks potential. Knowledge should be more accessible, not locked behind sky-high price tags.

Last year, we expanded our library to make over 1 million books affordable for learners, earned a 100% Gold ASPIRE rating for accessibility and reached over 15 million people. The next stage of Perlego is twofold: 1) expand our support to students and publishers globally, and 2) build a product that goes beyond the book, a platform that helps students study smarter and educators teach more effectively.

What we’re looking for:

An experienced, high-performing sales individual with a strong track record of selling SaaS products into the European Higher Education Market. We want someone who can balance exceeding individual targets and being an excellent team player, and who is willing to work closely with sales, marketing, content and product teams to identify and fulfil customer needs whilst maximising revenue.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop a plan to target, engage and close new business at the most reputable institutions across the EU region. You will own our B2B sales for that region, meaning you’ll need to work autonomously and proactively to close deals with a wide variety of different institutions.
  • Run a full sales desk, including prospecting, qualifying, pricing, quoting, negotiating and closing deals
  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities by networking and personalised strategic emails, phone calls and social messages.
  • Build relationships with key business decision-makers, up to and including C-Level Executives, advising sophisticated buying groups and building consensus across multiple departments.
  • Qualify and uncover prospective client needs, goals and pain points to determine whether our product is right for them and will help them achieve certain objectives
  • Partner with the Account Management team to ensure clients are set up for success on our platform
  • Increase Perlego’s sales volume orders and average contract value per sale
  • Exceed revenue goals by closing new client accounts
  • Collaborate with SDRs and Marketing to develop lead generation campaigns to prospect and build new business while ensuring consistent messaging to customers
  • Work closely with the Regional Leads from France, Italy, DACH and Spain-LATAM to leverage their regional knowledge and insights to identify top opportunities.

Requirements

It’s the perfect role for you if you are/have:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build solid, trusting relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Extensive experience in sales roles and a demonstrable history of winning new business, ideally for SaaS products
  • The ability to break down complicated technical terminology into simple terms and engaging presentation skills
  • A strong screen presence and an unflappable attitude when giving product demos
  • Always striving for excellence, finding creative and innovative ways to remain memorable in the sales process
  • Enjoy challenging yourself every day to try something new, in the spirit of constantly adapting, learning and making the job “challengingly fun” (otherwise, what's the point?)
  • Commercially minded with a deep understanding of key SaaS metrics such as ARR.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude; someone who uses their natural ability as well as logic, data, micro & macro trends, to identify opportunities and deliver results in both our new business and expansion initiatives. You’ll need to be proactive!
  • Intellectually Curious - seek to learn, love to teach. We’re humble and embrace respectful and radical candour, with a mindset of ongoing professional and personal development
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Region Leads and other team members, fostering a cooperative mindset and embracing the value of collective effort over individual competition - one team, one shared mission.
  • Great at keeping people in the loop: Maintaining client relationships by providing support, information, and guidance, researching and identifying new opportunities, and recommending profit and service improvements.
  • Able to identify product improvements or new features by remaining up to date on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.

⭐️ It’s a plus (but not a deal breaker) if you have/can:

  • Experience in the Higher Education market and an understanding of how universities operate.
  • Experience in a consultative, B2B environment with a track record of closing 6-figure deals.
  • Consistently exceeded your sales targets.
  • Thrive when selling to C-level executives and sophisticated buying groups.
  • An appreciation of the highs and lows that come with working at a startup, you’ll need to be agile.
  • Fluency in Italian, French or Spanish.
