This key role will provide commercially astute and technically expert legal advice across the broad range of Carbon Clean’s business activity.

Legal Counsel will drive the growth of the business by providing proactive support in negotiating, drafting and executing legal documentation across procurement, sales, intellectual property, construction, research and development and other activity.

This role will also provide support to critical change initiatives being led by the legal function, across ESG, Risk Management and Compliance. Project management skills are vital as the role looks to manage a diverse and challenging workload.

Legal Counsel must comfortable in identifying risk, and advising the business on effective and proportionate mitigation strategies. You will be expected to take a commercial and enabling approach to your work, seeking solutions rather than identifying problems.

Legal Counsel must be able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, and be proactive in identifying areas of need and generating action plans.

This is a generalist legal role, and will suit a flexible and assured individual who thrives on being part of the business team and getting the deal done.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Leading the negotiation and drafting of contracts across sales, procurement, IP, R&D, joint development, construction and other commercial activity
  • Providing clear and commercially astute counsel to the Business and General Counsel on risk
  • Providing support to key change initiatives including ESG, Compliance and Risk Management
  • Providing ad-hoc support on corporate activity, including fundraising and shareholder and board related matters

Requirements

Is this the job for me?

To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Commercially astute qualified lawyer, with experience in a fast-paced, growth environment.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting the full range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to sales, procurement, construction, R&D, IP, Joint Development contracts.
  • Experience in contracting across the supply chain for the delivery of complex engineering and technology projects
  • Experience in corporate matters, including board and shareholder related matters and fundraising, is desirable.
  • Ideally you will have experience in-house, within a technology / construction / engineering / IP led business.
  • A passion to support our mission to enable “net zero”.
